Listening to 2/2/1968 right now (2 windows open).

Yeah, yeah, smokin'!

I dig those rehearsals from '66 too.

I give credit to anyone who can appreciate Viola Lee Blues, from any year or band, though or because it's got '66/'67 written all over it - at one time, or that time especially, it was the Grateful Dead's showstopper, signature tune, without calling it that.

40 years later and I'm slowly but slowly still exploring it's mysteries.
Not every day, but when the mood or thread inspires.

Then it's back to rockabilly roots, Noah Webster, Johnny Craig (OK, Willy Elder), W.C. Fields, Typhoid Mary, Mary Shelley, WolfMother and Saint Stephen.

Try the first minute of this 1967 Aug 4th O'Keefe show's version of Viola Lee Blues too - blistering riffs from the G-man:

and don't forget the movie PETULIA for further Viola reelisation.

Nice Picture! iszat the 2 faces of Bobby? I love bobby, but he's always been a bit of a snidejerk, and kinda stuck in his teens maturity (which i can understand-I'm screaming thru my 50's-aaaaargh!)

Yes indeed, dat's duh' two faces of Bobby, with a touch of gravy, haunted by the eternally young beardless I don't-give-a-damn Garcia,
